Law enforcement plans Rx collection

Law enforcement officials in Logan and Simpson counties will be collecting unwanted, expired and unused prescription drugs next weekend as part of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

Unused drugs can be brought to the Simpson County Sheriff’s Department or the Logan County Sheriff’s Department between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday.
An agent from the South Central Kentucky Drug Task Force will be at each location to accept the pills for disposal.
Used needles should be brought to either location in a hard plastic container, and liquid and needles should be kept separate from pills brought to either location, according to the drug task force.
To combat drug abuse and thefts, law enforcement agencies in recent years have staged events such as Take Back Day to collect and dispose of unwanted drugs on a large scale.
Permanent disposal boxes are available at the Logan and Simpson county sheriff’s offices, the Franklin Police Department and the Russellville Police Department year-round during regular business hours.
