here is a sort of improved scenario in this regard. Teen birth rate is going down in the US, but still 1,700 babies are born per week
Teen pregnancy has been the biggest issue that the American society has been trying hard to combat for some time. Despite all-out efforts to address the issue, the main reason for its spread is still not been fathomed. Sociologists and experts are divided over how to find ways to address the issue of teens getting sexually active at an early age.
However, a new survey may bring some relief for groups who have been mounting pressure on the government to find ways to convince teen to avoid pregnancy at an early state.
A recent finding of the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention has pointed out that the teen birth rate has declined 63 percent from 1991 to 2012. Despite this, every week, some 1,700 babies are born to girls. The rate is too still high, according to federal officials. But when compared with old data the change has been welcomed.
CDC Director Tom Frieden said: “Although we have made significant progress reducing teen pregnancy, far too many teens are still having babies. Births to younger teens pose the greatest risk of poor medical, social and economic outcomes. Efforts to prevent teen childbearing need to focus on evidence-based approaches to delaying sexual activity and increasing use of the most effective methods of contraception for those teens who are sexually active.”
